In acknowledging your letter of 29th ultimo, forwarding the Report of Lieutenant Adams on the Deep Bay Expedition, I have to assure you that I regret equally with yourself the fruitless result.
I have brought the incapacity of the Brigadier General to the notice of the Provincial Government through Her Majesty's Envoy at Canton, and Captain Nolloth R.N., Senior Naval Officer.
